I attended the fabulously well-organised and hugely enjoyable @BBloggersXmas event back in December. Organised by @iamlolastar and @KoKoSecrets, this event has gone down in #bblogger history for being well-planned, fantastically enjoyable and providing the hugest, most wrist-breaking goodie bags imaginable.
Haircare brand Urban Therapy’s twistedsista were represented at the event with a table of product to check out and the lovely Kate from Soapbox PR on hand to chat to about it. Twistedsista is a well-thought out line that includes shampoo, two types of conditioner and six different styling products. Free from parabens and sulphates, twistedsista products have a pleasant feel and a deliciously light fruit scent. Distinctive packaging with illustrations reminiscent of Jason Brooks’ vector images for Hed Kandi means that these products should jump out at you from the stockists’ shelves, and prove attractive to a young market. I was very impressed with the pricing – each product retails at an affordable £4.99, making them well worth trying.
It was pot luck just which of the seven twistedsista products from the Argan range was in the goodie bag – Leave in Conditioner would have been the best fit for my limp, weak locks, but I received Curl Activator. The only curl in my hair is the large cowlick that lurks at my left temple. I had no intention of activating that, but I was delighted to have got this product, for what better opportunity to lure a Great Beauty on to this blog to review it for me?
Ladies and Gentlemen, I hand you over to Delectable Denise!
“Having had very curly unmanageable unruly frizz for all of my 46 years, I’ve tried every frizz free cream, serum, mousse, spray, mud and oil known to mankind, ( all without much success) so I was rather dubious when asked to try twistedsista Curl Activator …
Not the sort of product I would normally pick off the shelves, it’s packaging seems to be aimed at the teen market; bright colours, mis-spelt words and a cartoon character on the front – I usually go for something more professional and up-market looking.
It smells slightly fruity – possibly kiwi-fruit – and is easy to apply. I squeezed the product onto my fingertips ( needed two large walnut sized blobs as I have rather thick hair) and applied from root to tip on damp hair as instructed. Twistedsista has a soft creamy consistency and my hands felt soft after applying it, not sticky or greasy as with some products. After application I let my hair dry naturally and it kept noticeably frizz-free all day – I even had a comment on my ‘new hair looking good’ from both my sons, who generally wouldn’t notice if I was bald!
On the tube it claims to ‘activate curls and eliminate frizz’ and I was really surprised to see it actually does what it says on the tin!! My hair was frizz-free all day!!! Even after it was bone dry.
I would definitely recommend this product to fellow frizz sufferers and at £4.99 it is well worth the money. I will be using it again as I have at long last fallen in love with my curls.”
