I’m excited for this event and a little bit apprehensive too. I used to spend endless hours daydreaming about Death: wondering what our date for chess would be like, and what I would wear and what we would talk about and so on and so on.

But since I’ve had to recently confront my mortality, I’m oddly disinclined to think about my Good/Grim Reaper friend – in fact, I’m ghosting him!

So I’m booking for all three events: I think they will be good for my psyche and help to return me to my true self.

I am very impressed with Idea Store (that’s what Tower Hamlets call their library service) for putting on an event this ambitious.

No better venue for it, either – Bethnal Green Library is a very beautiful building that holds much death and commemoration within its walls and grounds, and a quiet, natural observance of love and grief and eternity seems to have permeated its bricks and wood panelling.

It is one of my very favourite places to spend time in.
