MORE INFO …
I’m very excited for this opening! Although I’m not one for a statement perfume, and like to spread my love around all the big Houses (and some of the small ones too), Guerlain have a special place in my heart.
My route to perfume was Avon Pretty Peach … 4711 … Guerlain. Guerlain fragrances appear throughout Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, and so I read about them (aged around ten) before I ever smelt or saw them.
My first ‘grown-up’ fragrance was Guerlain Chamade, and I’ve tried my hardest to ensure I always have a bottle of Mitsouko on the go, cashflow allowing.
Everything about Guerlain makes me happy: the perfumes, the bottles, the boxes, their Napoleonic affinity with bees… To me, Guerlain are the ultimate ‘big’ perfume house, and so I was very excited to see this store-front last week.
Had it been possible, I’d have whipped a Stanley knife from my pocket and carefully carved the image on the shopfront from its surroundings and taken it home. Alas, it is not fly-posted, so I couldn’t, but wouldn’t every day seem simply wonderful if you had this big rosy bottle pasted up on the wall at the foot of your bed, so that it was the first thing your eyes saw on waking?
