Penny Pitchlynn’s LABRYS will NOT be
at that pub a mile or two away from my place,
you know the one,
the one that the tabloids made quite notorious …
back when Pete Docherty used to hang out there.
Yeah, that one.
WHEN ..?
Well, according to Spotify, it’s tonight – except it’s not tonight, because the band playing there tonight with the same name are not the LABRYS that I’ve been urging all my friends to listen to.
But you can listen to LABRYS here, and if you do, you’ll understand why I’ve been so over-excited ever since Spotify misled me into thinking Penny Chvftaya Pitchlynn was playing just down the road from me.

I discovered LABRYS (and Broncho, the Oklahoma band that Pitchlynn plays bass with) through Reservation Dogs. (I’ll be writing more about this show and how it’s shaped my watching, reading and listening in an upcoming post.)
For now, apologies to the friends that I invited to come out in the freezing cold to hear this amazing artist, and who –Â once they heard LABRYS – wanted to see her too.Â
I am slightly delighted that I have almost had my own ‘Andy Warhol and the Factory trek out of town to see Big Tom and the Mainliners’ moment.
I’m even more delighted that Pitchlynn was kind enough to clarify in a DM today that Spotify have the info wrong (and although she’s requested it be corrected, as yet they haven’t done so).
I’ll spend tonight at home all cosy and warm, listening to LABRYS and BRONCHO whilst making lists of all the promoters I know who might be able to persuade Pitchlynn to come to London …
