Why Not … Spend The Summer Wearing MUJI Balloon Shorts?

Or MUJI bloomers, to give them their old-fashioned - and far more evocative -name.

Because who amongst us doesn’t love a cute and versatile little bottom?

These particular cute and versatile little bottoms make up one fifth of the MUJI Double Gauze Dot Dobby collection currently available in store and online.

Classified by MUJI as Underwear, these MUJI balloon shorts are definitely Streetwear for those of us who like to give our thighs the Freedom of the City once the sun comes out, and they will make excellent hot weather NIghtwear for pyjama enthusiasts.

If you are flash with cash you could treat yourself to any or all of the rest of this collection and have fun mixing and matching your camisole top and dress with your pyjama top and trousers and tie-front robe. All five pieces are available in three colours: pale blue, off-white and black.

Dobby fabric (light, airy stuff woven on a Dobby Loom that gives it a geometric pattern: in this case: raised dots) is having a moment and I am currently watching a particular mini smock-dress from Uniqlo to see if it drops in price soon, in which case I might snap it up to wear with my MUJI bloomers.

I imagine that wearing both the MUJI balloon shorts and the UNIQLO smock-dress together will keep me very cool and comfortable in horribly hot London summer weather, and that this outfit will allow me to pay a small, secret homage to the great Beryl Reid as Kath in Entertaining Mr Sloane, whilst passing myself off as an au courant and respectable lady of great dignity.

The MUJI Balloon Shorts cost £14.95 and are available here
