Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, the most well-known of the products in the Embryolisse Laboratoires range, was created in 1950 by a dermatologist working in a Paris hospital. This suits-all-skins moisturiser is celebrating its 65th birthday, and has re-packaged for the occasion in deep, shiny gold.
Although Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré has been around for generations, my first encounter with it was on the shelves at BeautyMART. As it retails at £20+ for 75ml, I didn’t take the plunge to purchase until the unforgettable BeautyMART flash sale, when I was able to grab a tube at half-price, and find out for myself what could justify that price-point.
Gentle reader, I was instantly hooked. Embryolisse Lait-CrèmeConcentré is a simple white cream that absorbs like a dream. It seems able to set one’s skin to neutral in an instant, no matter how late the night has been, how richly you’ve lived, or how much you’ve suffered! Consequently, it’s beloved backstage at fashion shows, as no matter how many make-up changes a model has endured in a day, Embryolisse Lait-CrèmeConcentré can bring the skin back to its dewy best, ready to receive another face-full of slap.
Great Name? 2/5 – Hmmm. A slightly terrifying suggestion that embryos are involved in the creation of this wonder product … THEY ARE NOT! The ‘Lisse’ part means smooth; the Embryo part? I have no idea!
Effective? 5/5 – If you only use one moisturiser, then I think it should be this one. But I’m a product tart, and I like to chop and change my skincare: EmbryolisseLait-Crème Concentré restores my skin to smooth, clear and comfortable after any ill-advised flirtation with a lesser product. I intend to never be without it.
Packaging? 4/5 – Instagram is FULL of photos of people using a paint key to squeeze the very last drop of goodness from their Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. On my first tube I squeezed all higgledy-piggledy, creating a lovely sculptural effect, but probably trapping some of this precious product in the folds. When I break into my Limited Edition 65 Years Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Gold Edition I shall be much more careful!
Scent? 3/5 – It smells fine, but doesn’t have a memorable scent. However, as it plays extremely well with other products, one of my favourite things to do is mix scented facial oil into Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré for a sensuous and extra-moisturising treat.
Price? 4/5 – With an RRP of £20 for 75ml this is a little on the pricey side, but the results are worth it. The canny shopper can undoubtedly knock off a few quid by judicious sale-monitoring at favoured outlets. I think BeautyMART deserve ALL the credit for introducing this product to the UK, so they are my chosen hyper-link, but you can also find it online at other popular beauty retailers, and Boots now carry it too.
Will I re-purchase? I already have! The Limited Edition 65 Years Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Gold Edition in the photo was bought a few weeks ago at a small pharmacy in Paris. Also, I am a huge enthusiast for the Embryolisse Laboratoires Artist Secret products, and intend to review Embrolisse Artist Secret BB Cream and Embryolisse Artist Secret Eclat du Regard very soon …
